Mass Effect 2 PS3 Patch Incoming

Bioware Community Manager 'Evil' Chris Priestly has let fans know that a patch for Mass Effect 2 PS3 is on the way that'll hopefully go a long way to fix some of the nasty issues that have been plaguing the PS3 version of our RPG of the Year 2010 since its launch a few weeks back.

The game's been suffering pretty badly - it's been crashing PS3s here and there, corrupting saves and, worst of all, wiping the entire hard drives of some PS3 owners. Bioware hopes to have all this and more fixed in the patch, which has now been submitted to Sony for certification and final release.

Here's the patch notes Chris listed:
 - Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
  - Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
 - Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
 - Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
 - Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
 - Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.

He also suggests fans who want to carry on playing until the patch arrives save and shut the game off every few hours to restart it and clean the system out. We'll let you know when the full patch is out. If you don't want to run that risk, here's the PS3 launch trailer to watch over and over until it comes out... or something.
