Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guide: how to get the Travel Medallion for better fast travel

The DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is typically Nintendo in that it's an eclectic mix - some of it adds new in-game challenges such as the hard mode and The Trial of the Sword, while other elements of the DLC give you new stuff to play with such as new armor and the like.

One of the coolest additions to the DLC is a simple quality of life improvement, however - the ability to place your own custom fast travel point anywhere in Hyrule for you to use any time you like to revisit a location you don't have a shrine or tower nearby to teleport to. Handy!

Even this doesn't come free, however - it's an item that you must actually discover for yourself, and it's quite well hidden. As a result, here we're going to give you a hand, being the lovely people we are. Here's how to get the Travel Medallion:

Travel Medallion Location: where to find the DLC fast travel medallion

Breath of the Wild's DLC is hidden across its massive interpreation of Hyrule, and some of them are more obvious than others. This is one of the most obvious ones, since the 'clue' given in a book you can find is basically the answer to the whole puzzle. It says:

"I hear the treasure chest containing this tool is located beneath a labyrinth in northeast Akkala."

This is referring to Lomei Labyrinth Island, and the description is pretty darn accurate. Akkala is the region in the North-East of Hyrule, the top right of the map, and at the very, very top right there's a big labyrinth you can glide you - that's Lomei Labyrinth Island. Here is is on a map:

The clue tells us it's beneath the labyrinth, and that means you'll actually have to complete this maze first. This is pretty easy - though it might take you a while. Weave your way through the maze making ample use of your map or mini-map (if you have the pro HUD on, you might want to turn it off) until you reach the shrine.

Head in and complete the Tu Ka'loh Shrine, and once you do a wind current will appear. Don't take the wind current up but instead fall down it, landing underneath the maze. The treasure chest is down here.

Once you get the item, you can use the medallion to create one fast travel point anywhere in the world and travel to it at any time. This is limited to one point at a time, but you can move it around at will by using the medallion again.
