Genshin Impact Thunder Manifestation boss guide: Location and strategies

After reaching Inazuma, Genshin Impact introduces you to a new round of bosses and challenges, including the Raging Thunder of Amakuno Peak, Thunder Manifestation. This boss is one you’ll need to challenge frequently if you’re searching for Storm Beads - valuable ascension materials for both Kujou Sara and Raiden.

Before you can challenge the electro elemental, you’ll need to reach the stormy creature’s home island and complete a few tasks. Finding the boss can be a bit of a doozy on your first encounter, but after that initial hurdle, you’ll regularly meet the challenge with ease.

The Thunder Manifestation boss as seen for the first time. It looks a lot like Oceanid.

Genshin Impact | How to Find Thunder Manifestation

You’ll find Thunder Manifestation at Amakumo Peak, part of Inazuma’s violently stormy Seirai Islands. You can’t challenge the boss until you’ve completed Seirai Stormchasers, a four-part questline amidst a nasty electrical storm.

How to complete Seirai Stormchasers

Your objective here is divided into questlines Seirai Stormchasers Part I, II, III, and IV. Begin by speaking to Katheryne in Inazuma City’s Adventurer’s Guild, and she’ll initiate the first leg of the adventure and eventually tasks you with investigating the Warding Stone

Part I is the longest chain of events, with the follow-up in III-IV only asking you to complete additional puzzles and defeat a few enemies. In every leg of Seirai Stormchasers, you’ll need to seal a Warding Stone, so four total. Their locations are indicated on the mini-map, and every new area has three Paper Charm Hangars to find and touch - you have to interact with these first before the next objective, rotating the Warding Stone.

The Stone Ward Puzzle pieces in Seirai Stormchasers, which need to be turned the right direction to work.

The Warding Stones have a top and bottom that can rotate, and they need to move to reflect the paper charm patterns you just interacted with. After turning the stones into the correct positions, they should trigger a short cutscene to indicate that you’ve got them correctly positioned.

Upon completing the last puzzle, you’ll run into Thunder Manifestation on Amakumo Peak. Defeating the electro boss is part of your last Seirai Stormchasers quest chain, and now you should be able to complete regular encounters with it for ascension materials.

Genshin Impact | Tips for Beating Thunder Manifestation

Thunder Manifestation looks like Oceanid, but don’t worry - it’s not full of that many frustrating phases and not nearly as hard. There are two phases to the fight, with the first just being a series of lightning strikes to dodge while chipping away at the creature’s HP.

The second phase should begin pretty quickly, and the boss gets mobile with swooping, charging, and lightning attacks. Many of its skills are like the Anemo boss you face outside of Mondstadt. It’s not hard to defeat, but a couple of tips while you're at it:

  • Avoid bringing any of your electro carries if you're relying on that burst - just like other elemental bosses, this one is immune to damage from those skills.
  • This boss has two hidden achievements, and Love and Non-Communication is the harder of the two. You can't get hit by its attacks to avoid being "locked on to" in the fight, and I found this easier to achieve with a ranged character like Ganyu.
  • You can complete the second achievement, Thunder Fall, by defeating the boss mid-dive attack.
