Utawarerumono Zan 2 will add Shis, Itak, and Mikazuchi as playable characters
Aquaplus has revealed three new playable characters for Utawarerumono Zan 2. Shis, Itak, and Munechika will join the playable roster in accordance with their roles in Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth.
Shis is Rulutieh's elder sister who had left the country for a political marriage but returned after it broke up. Itak is the prince of Nakoku who is arranged to become the fiance of his cousin Atuy by both of their parents. And Mikazuchi is a general who used to protect the nation of Yamato together with Oshtor.
By adding these new characters with the roster confirmed from the initial reveal, we now have a total of 16 playable characters. It has now exceeded the prequel's roster number of 14 (12 launch characters + 2 DLC). Some characters from the prequel were cut or merged due to story reasons; namely Maroro, Ukon, and Haku (the latter getting merged with Oshtor).
Last month, Aquaplus published the second trailer that newly showed a challenging Illusion Dungeon. The trailer also mentioned that the online co-op will have worldwide matchmaking.
Utawarerumono Zan 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 on July 22 in Japan. While the prequel is available in the West, an English localization for the new game has yet to be officially announced.
