1990 FC/NES version of Ishin no Arashi is coming to Switch 2 & PS5 via Console Archives on April 16

Hamster has revealed that they will release Ishin no Arashi (Storm of Restoration) for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 as part of the Console Archives series on April 16. While the company does not explicitly specify the original console version, they shared its original release date as September 15, 1990, which confirms that this port is going to be based on the Family Computer (NES) version.

Ishin no Arashi was the first game released in the Koei-coined Rekoeition Game series, which have their genre mixed between simulation strategy and role-playing game. This game takes place in Japan's Bakumatsu period, and it lets the player assume the role of a historical figure like Sakamoto Ryoma or Saigo Takamori, who will have to debate or duel with other feudal lords to join the hero's ideology and complete the unification before a foreign fleet overruns Japan.

Koei Tecmo has also released Ishin no Arashi on their own on the PC platform Steam in 2017, but this is particularly based on the game's inaugural 1988 release for PC98. The game would also have direct remakes on Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn in 1997.
