Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United set to release on February 16, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix announced Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, a full remake of 1995's Romancing SaGa 3. It is set to release on February 16, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).

Unlike Romancing SaGa 2, which portrayed a kingdom across generations, Romancing SaGa 3 allows players to select from one of eight different protagonists to explore the world in a "Free Scenario System", which allows the player freedom to progress through the game, both main and side quests, in any order.

Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United is a full remake of the 1995 classic Romancing SaGa 3, and brings the title to the modern age with 3D graphics, fully voiced cutscenes, overhauls to combat and other mechanics, selectable difficulty levels and many other new features. Once every 300 years, the Rise of Morastrum eclipses the sun and destroys all newborn life, sparing only a single survivor known as the Child of Destiny. Six hundred years ago, that child became the Archfiend who brought ruin, while three hundred years ago another became the Matriarch who drove back the darkness. Now, over a decade after the latest Rise, the Archfiend's Four Sinistrals have returned to the world, prying open the Abyss Gates that separate the mortal realm from the Abyss.
Players will take control of one of eight protagonists, Mikhail, Monika, Katarina, Khalid, Julian, Thomas, Sarah or Ellen, and begin the search for the Child of Destiny from their own unique perspective. Additionally, you can meet and recruit over 20 other characters along the way, each with individual stats and abilities. Every character's seven base attributes can also be shaped by a Nonastrum, a star of fate the player assigns that influences their affinity with techs and spells.
In true SaGa series fashion, a Freeform Scenario System lets player choices shape the characters they meet, the events that unfold and alter the course of the story. In battle, characters can glimmer new techniques or learn to evade enemy attacks mid-encounter, while formations and the powerful United Attack add further layers of strategy to encounters. War Mode and the Business minigame also return, letting players command armies or grow a trading empire alongside the main story.
