Super Robot Wars Y DLC Guide – All the DLC, Deluxe Upgrade, Premium Sound & Data Pack, and How To Access It

Super Robot Wars Y DLC Guide – All the DLC, Deluxe Upgrade, Premium Sound & Data Pack, and How To Access It

Super Robot Wars Y from Bandai Namco Entertainment is now available worldwide with three different editions and quite a bit of paid DLC depending on the version you buy. Our Super Robot Wars Y DLC guide will cover everything you need to know about the game editions, all the SRW Y DLC, upgrading to the Deluxe and Ultimate editions, how to access DLC, and more.

Super Robot Wars Y editions

Super Robot Wars Y is available in three digital editions in the West:

  • Super Robot Wars Y standard edition ($59.99)
  • Super Robot Wars Y Deluxe Edition ($94.99)
  • Super Robot Wars Y Ultimate Edition ($119.99)

Note that the physical release on PS5 and Switch is not available in the West.

Super Robot Wars Y Deluxe Edition DLC content

The Super Robot Wars Y Deluxe Edition includes both the DLC 1 & 2 Set and the Bonus Mission Pack, while adding an exclusive Deluxe Edition Purchase Bonus Mission that instantly rewards you with the following:

  • 50,000 Credits
  • 10,000 MXP
  • Power Part: Spirit of the Blade (CQB weapons gain +200 attack power; +1 move)
  • Power Part: Spirit of the Shot (RNG weapons gain +200 attack power; Non-MAP and Range>1 weapons gain +1 range)
  • Skill Program: Pre-Support: Accel (Activates the Accel Spirit (+3 move once) on sortie)
  • Skill Program: Pre-Support: Gain (Activates the Gain Spirit (double EXP on the next enemy destroyed) on sortie)

Super Robot Wars Y Ultimate Edition DLC content

The Super Robot Wars Y Ultimate Edition currently contains all DLC and bonuses in the Deluxe Edition, but it also includes the Premium Sound & Data Pack while adding another exclusive Ultimate Edition Purchase Bonus Mission with the following instant rewards:

  • 50,000 Credits
  • 10,000 MXP
  • Power Part: Spirit of Power (CQB and RNG weapons gain +100 attack power; Restores 10% of max EN at start of own phase)
  • Power Part: Soldier's Medallion (+30 max and starting morale (Morale cap increase does not stack with other parts))

How to upgrade Super Robot Wars Y to the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions

If you bought the base version of Super Robot Wars Y ($59.99), you can technically get the DLC 1 & 2 Set ($29.99) and the Bonus Mission Pack ($9.99) separately to practically catch up with the Deluxe Edition, and then add the Premium Sound & Data Pack ($29.99) to almost get in line with the Ultimate Edition. But while doing all those would cost a total of $129.96, you would still miss out on the Deluxe and Ultimate Edition's purchase bonuses mentioned above so keep that in mind.

If you want to get all the above content including the edition bonuses, purchasing the Ultimate Edition at $119.99 will work out cheaper. This will not include the pre-order bonus though unless you pre-ordered in time.

Super Robot Wars Y Premium Sound & Data Pack contents

Purchasing the Super Robot Wars Y Premium Sound & Data Pack will not only grant you a bonus item pack. It will also come with a 55-page digital artbook and 46 bonus songs.

A majority of the bonus tracks are the original vocal versions of theme songs that are arranged instrumentally in the base release with mid-loop points also supported. If you have this DLC installed, the vocal songs will replace the respective tracks whenever applicable. You can tell which track is the bonus one as it will have an orange DLC-marked icon as opposed to the regular green one (or blue for Custom BGM on the PS5 and PC versions). You can find a few images from the artbook and the full song list for the SRW Y Premium Sound & Data Pack DLC below:

Purchasing the DLC 1 and 2 Set will get you Early Access for each DLC pack a few days before they release as standalone DLC. In addition, this pack will also immediately grant you access to the DLC 1 & 2 Set Purchase Bonus and 2 Area Missions that unlock the following 3 playable units:

  • Xelguard (From Super Robot Wars X; Piloted by Iori Iolite and Amari Aquamarine with Hopes as sub-pilot)
  • Tyranado (From Super Robot Wars T; Piloted by Saizo Tokito or Sagiri Sakurai)
  • Tyranado Rex (From Super Robot Wars T; Piloted by Saizo Tokito or Sagiri Sakurai with Ramy Amasaki as sub-pilot)

Each mission will have a dialogue choice that lets you determine which character is the protagonist from each title. For the SRW X stage, the chosen one will be the main pilot, and the other one will be a sub-pilot together with Hopes. As for the SRW T one, the chosen character will get to pilot the Tyranado Rex and accompanied by Ramy, while the other one will instead have the pre-upgraded Tyranado on their own.

Super Robot Wars Y pre-order bonus

Those who pre-ordered Super Robot Wars Y before it came released on August 28 were entitled to a Special Starter Pack bonus set, as well as access two bonus Area Missions that unlock a total of 3 new playable units:

  • Cybaster (From Super Robot Wars OG series; Piloted by Masaki Andoh)
  • VangNex (From Super Robot Wars V; Piloted by Soji Murakumo by default)
  • GranVang (From Super Robot Wars V; Piloted by Chitose Kisaragi by default)

For the Area Mission that unlocks the SRW V OG units, there will be a dialogue choice that determines which one between Soji and Chitose would be regarded as the protagonist. Unlike the above ones, there are no major consequences here, as you can freely swap the pilot assignments at any time regardless of this choice.

However, be advised that there is an issue that accessing the Special Starter Pack rewards immediately after launch will not give the "Hit & Away" skill program. Bandai Namco is already aware of this issue, and they will address it in a future update.

If you are just contemplating to get Super Robot Wars Y right now, unfortunately you have missed out on the opportunity to get these bonuses. While there is no guarantee whether Bandai Namco will re-release these in the future or not, we will keep you updated if it does happen. They have sold this in the past for other games so hopefully that happens not too long after launch.

How to access DLC in Super Robot Wars Y

Any purchased Super Robot Wars Y DLC will have their respective access nodes unlocked immediately upon the game's next boot. However, the earliest point you can access them will differ based on the content type.

Generally speaking, Purchase Bonuses that consist of simple dialogues in the A. Advent are available as soon as you have cleared the first prologue mission. However, the soonest you can access the missions for extra units will only be after you have entered Chapter 2.

In addition, some of the DLC and Bonus side missions are tied to the main story progression, so those ones will only appear after you have progressed through specific points in the storyline.

As for the Premium Data & Sound Pack, the extra tracks are immediately added to the song list, while the artbook is accessible via Option -> Design Works from the game's title/main menu.

Super Robot Wars Y is now available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Read Josh's thoughts on it after 40 hours here.
