Super Robot Wars 30 DLC2 will feature Ultraman and Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans this December

Just a few days after revealing the first DLC roster, Bandai Namco announced the full roster for Super Robot Wars 30's second DLC pack at the October 2021 Super Robot Wars live stream. As with the earlier pack, this set will add 9 new playable mechs and units—with 2 of them coming from the SRW Original Generation series.

The DLC2 roster for Super Robot Wars 30, set to appear in December 2021, is as follows:

  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans -- Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex (Mikazuki Augus), Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City (Akihiro Altland), Gundam Flauros (Norba Shino), and Gundam Bael (McGillis Fareed)
  • Ultraman (2019 anime) -- Ultraman, Seven, and Ace
  • Super Robot Wars: Original Generation series -- Alteisen Riese (Kyosuke Nanbu) and Rein Weissritter (Excellen Browning)

Not even a day had passed since our fellow writer Josh put up a wishlist for DLC2 and future SRW entries. Bandai Namco confirmed the inclusion of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans in the DLC roster, even though the title is also featured in the currently ongoing mobile game Super Robot Wars DD.

The series producer Takanobu Terada explained that the team could include endgame mechs and pilots from the second season without depicting the title's story so that it would not overlap with SRW DD. While not shown in the trailer, Terada also verbally confirmed that Norba Shino with the Gundam Flauros and McGillis Fareed with his Gundam Bael will accompany Mikazuki and Akihiro. With DLC2 included, Iron-Blooded Orphans is currently the only alternate universe Gundam title featured in SRW 30.

Meanwhile, Ultraman as a tokusatsu hero series has been frequently featured in the lesser-known Compatible Hero series—which actually predated Super Robot Wars. However, the inclusion of the 2019 Ultraman anime marks the first-ever appearance on the SRW series. The three Ultramen will complement SSSS.Gridman, which is making its grand debut in SRW 30's main roster.

Kyosuke's Alteisen Riese and Excellen's Rein Weissritter will be the OG representatives rounding up this DLC roster. Unlike RyuKoOh and KoRyuOh from the first DLC set, these are completely different mechs that properly occupy their own slots. On another note, Bandai Namco will still use Excellen's old lines from the late Yuko Mizutani, who passed away in 2016.

SRW 30's producer Shohei Mogami added that each DLC set will include instrumental versions of theme songs from the extra titles; namely Voltes V, Sakura Wars, Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Ultraman. However, Bandai Namco will not provide licensed vocal versions of the songs, even with the Premium Sound DLC pack. The only way their vocal songs can be inserted into the game is by using the Custom BGM feature, available on the PS4 and PC releases.

Other than DLC2, Bandai Namco also published the 3rd major trailer for SRW 30. It shows even more mechs and units that will appear in-game, such as L-Gaim Mk-II, Fire J-Decker, Victory 2 Gundam, Buster Gridman, and Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex.
