Super Robot Wars Y 3rd trailer confirms demo version coming online to PS5 and Switch on August 8

Bandai Namco published more details about Super Robot Wars Y via a new live stream dedicated to the game. The primary highlights of this stream are the new publication of the 3rd major trailer and the impending release of the game's demo version on the PS5 and Switch on August 8.

The new trailer highlights include not only the return of Tetsuya Tsurugi's Mazin Emperor G, Paptimus Scirocco's PMX-003 The-O (as an enemy), and the Sekiha Love Love Tenkyoken combination attack by Domon Kasshu and Rain Mikamura. It also confirms the inclusions of the XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild and the VF-31J-Kai Super Siegfried.

The even bigger highlights are the two original content reveals. The first one is a new combination attack between Code Geass' Gekkoei Sui, Lancelot siN, and Guren Type Special, with the Zero Burst Mode of Lancelot siN being newly designed for this occasion.

SSSS.Dynazenon will also have a brand-new unit tentatively transliterated to Dynazenon Relive, which also hints that the Kaiju Eugenicist Club—originally the villains of the show—will be available as playable allies.

The stream also included a Q&A segment where the producer Kota Toma addressed some of the most-asked questions. One of them pertains to the Tactical Area Selection feature, which was also covered in the Japanese media joint interview.

The other question noted how the title roster has many sequelable entries, which lead to speculation on a sequel like SRW F Conclusion or the latter parts of SRW Z 2nd and 3rd. Producer Toma noted that the team will make the story end properly with just SRW Y, though this may also imply that they can do a major expansion DLC like they did in SRW 30.

In the same segment, Producer Toma also revealed that Super Robot Wars Y will have 4 difficulty levels available at default, with the following highlights:

  • Casual
    Credits required [for purchases/upgrades]: Fewer
Experience required to level up: Fewer

  • Normal
    Enemy upgrades: Accuracy only

  • Hard
    Credits required [for purchases/upgrades]: More
Experience required to level up: More
Enemy upgrades: HP, EN, Armor, Mobility, Accuracy
Ally pilots' morale: More difficult to raise
Clearing a mission within 5 turns will grant bonus Credits (also applies to the below Expert)

  • Expert
Credits required [for purchases/upgrades]: Much More
Experience required to level up: Much More
Enemy upgrades: Even more than Hard
    Enemy pilot stats: Increased
SP available at start: Half of other difficulties (25% of max SP)
Spirit Commands from other allies will be disabled during Enemy Phase

The new standalone trailer has also been uploaded to Bandai Namco's YouTube channel. The company's Southeast Asian branch has also published a complete English-translated version of the trailer, which you can find right below. The full release of Super Robot Wars Y will be available for not only PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch but also PC via Steam on August 28. Bandai Namco will also hold another SRW information live stream on Tuesday, August 19, at 20:00 JST (11:00 UTC).
